September Beer Fests coming fast

As we find ourselves dealing with the heat of outdoors in August, we naturally sneak a look ahead to the flavors and weather of autumn. What we see next month is a September that holds great promise for all of us Almost Heaven beer fans.

Three popular community beer fests will take place this year to help bring in the fall season.

The Great Beckley Beer Festival returns for its fourth year. Expect beers and other beverages from over 30 craft breweries, including many from West Virginia brewers.  Advance Ticket cost is $30.

Your General Admission ticket includes unlimited samples and a commemorative GBBF Cup.  Lots of music, food vendors, and local artisans to go along with the beer. Live bands include The OYB, Redline Band, and Hurl Brickbat.

Shinnston Rollin’ Brews

The Rollin’ Brews Beer Fest puts Harrison County on the beer festival map. Expect 10 beer tents, including West Virginia brewers and distributors.

Features live music and lots of food vendors, all set against the beautiful backdrop of one of the best parks in North Central West Virginia. Live music by Last Year’s Model and Heavy Hitters.

OktoberWest 2023

On the streets of Elk City district in Charleston

Now in its 15th year, organizers call this September 30th event the largest traditional Oktoberfest celebration in West Virginia. Whatever its size, we know first-hand that it is always a blast for beer lovers in the Charleston WV region.

OktoberWest incorporates all types of beer—not just craft. While you’ll find plenty of local, regional, and national craft brands, the fest also features several foreign beers from Germany and Mexico; and standard domestic brews like Bud, Miller, Coors, along with alcoholic seltzers. There is truly a beer to suit everyone’s palate.

That evening, fest goers fill the streets of the Elk City district, sampling from 150 brews, enjoying seasonal food favorites, and rocking to the beat of three live bands The always popular OktoberWest contests include stein holding, keg rolling, sausage toss, best traditional dress, and best beer belly.

All funds raised from OktoberWest support Charleston mains Street – West Side programs, including public art, and community and economic development projects.
