Four Questions for Jon and Cindy
November 18, 2018
A little earlier this year, Brilliant Stream caught up with Jon and Cindy Robeson of Stumptown Ales and picked their brains on a few topics.
1. Looking back on the past two and a half years, what stands out that you have learned since opening but did not expect beforehand?
JON — How quickly we would have to expand to meet demand!
CINDY — People love craft beer. We have expanded our hours and days open to accommodate our customers. It really has been a fun experience.
2. What has been the most fun or positive experience about opening a brewery in West Virginia?
JON — Seeing how excited people are to try a wide variety of fresh beer.
CINDY — The people and their excitement to drink West Virginia craft beer. We have met so many wonderful people the past few years. Beer really brings people together. Strangers may come in to Stumptown but in the end, everyone leaves as friends.
3. What have been the two or three most popular beers you guys have offered?
JON — Six Legged Frog and Holy Citra! People love the hoppy stuff.
CINDY — Although this isn’t a particular brew, we offer the “Spanky Special” which is a 50/50 combination of our Stout and our Porter. It only works of course when we have both on tap but it is a crowd pleaser for those that love our dark beers.
4. What has been your two favorite beers that you brewed over the past year?
JON — Six Legged Frog and Big Boy Pants
CINDY — Over the Tip Top Stout and Legendary Backside IPA.
Jon and Cindy are two of the state’s favorite brewery proprietors and a large part of why Stumptown was named 2017’s WV Brewery of the Year. (Announcement of West Virginia’s best of 2018 coming in December.)
