7th WV brewery of 2016 to open
February 25, 2016
A few days ago, we wrote about the six new breweries that are expected to open in West Virginia in 2016. Well, we missed one.
Mash Brewing Company plans to open in Charles Town this spring.
Our apologies to Mash Brewing Company owner/brewer George Shaw. We certainly didn’t mean to miss you. So now there are seven.
If they all open as planned, three of these new breweries will be operating in Jefferson County by the end of this year. That’s pretty amazing.
Located in a historic downtown district, Mash Brewing will start with a 1-barrel brewhouse. Look for a variety of popular American craft beer styles, IPAs, etc., but also Belgian-inspired brews. Shaw reports he plans to have beers infused with the “flavors of locally grown produce.” That could be real interesting.
You’ll soon find Mash beers sold in their own pub, plus at a few local bars and restaurants. Initially, their food service will mostly be ready-made snacks (popcorn, local pretzel vendor).
