Cran-Gose introduced by Devils Backbone

LEXINGTON, VA – Devils Backbone Brewing Company (DBBC) announced the introduction of Cran-Gose, a tart cranberry ale that launches the brewery’s 2016 Daypack Series.

Based on the traditional Gose brewing style, Cran-Gose is light, fruity and pink hued with a cranberry aroma and a naturally refreshing finish.

Traditional Gose is an old Germanic-style, lightly-sour ale that is flavored with a touch of salt. Gose typically has an alcohol content that is lower than most other common styles. West Virginia is just beginning to see a few beers of this style sold in the state. Nationally, Gose styles are growing fast.

While the base Gose beer is light and refreshing, it is a style that also takes fruit additions especially well. DBBC Brewmaster Jason Oliver likes this quality of Gose.

“It’s a really great base to build upon and for this beer,” said Oliver. “We added hundreds of pounds of pureed cranberry. The natural tartness of cranberry works well with the fruity character of the beer.”

Cran-Gose is among the first cranberry flavored Goses to hit the U.S. market.

Daypack Series: max-mobility session beers

The Daypack Series beers are all sessionable, under 5% ABV. They are meant to be approachable, easy-drinking styles that are canned for maximum mobility.

The Cran-Gose also debuts a new design for Devils Backbone canned six-packs. The beers are packaged in an eco-friendly carton that showcases the vibrant color of the cans inside and has the release schedule for all the 2016 Daypack beers printed on the bottom of the carton.

Cran-Gose is available now through April in cans and on draft throughout the Devils Backbone distribution footprint in West Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. While the beer has been spotted around North Carolina and Virginia, West Virginia distrbutors promise the beer will be on sale here soon.
