Mountain Dragon meads are certainly getting their share of media attention these days. This demonstrates the growing consumer interest in meads and related beverages. The Fairmont, WV, based operation produces dry, old-European-style meads, sometimes with a modern twist.

Mountain Dragon meads featured in Market Bulletin

The December issue of the Market Bulletin from the West Virginia Department of Agriculture has a nice feature on Mountain Dragon Mazery.

The bulletin reports that mead maker Tom Maltby, a former computer programmer, loves his new career.

“This business keeps my hands in the earth and gets me outside,” Tom says. “It’s a much happier mesh for my talents.”

Earlier this fall, local television station WBOY (Clarksburg, WV) produced a feature on the Mountain Dragon meads. It describes their connection to the meads of ancient times.

Mountain Dragon meads subject of documentary

Documentary filmmakers MotionWorks of Morgantown, WV, produced a superb mini-documentary on Mountain Dragon Mazery The documentary was honored as an Official Selection at the 2015 West Virginia FILMmakers Festival. It combines beautiful imagery with great storytelling.
