Experience shines at Bridge Brew Works

Experience matters. The West Virginia Beer Roads podcast crew stopped by Bridge Brew Works in Fayetteville, WV recently and liked what we found. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience at one of the most experienced breweries in the state.

The podcast’s guest is BBW’s brewer and co-founder, Nathan Herrold. You’ll hear how Nate got his start in West Virginia craft brewing way back around the year 2000, following several years of homebrewing. That quarter century of experience definitely shines through in the quality of decision making, the beer, and brewery management at Bridge Brew Works.

Get up to date with Bridge Brew

Podcast hosts Erin and Charles learned a lot about BBW’s operations and Nate’s history in brewing. It’s been a long and winding road. Lots of WV craft beer history. Nate gives his take on the ups and downs of the craft beer market, popular beer styles, and beer laws.

Tasted during the podcast are the recently release 2026 Oktoberfest Bier and Julie’s Juicer Hazy IPA.

It’s an interesting story of how BBW originally opened as a production brewery without any retail operation—and has now morphed into offering one of the most popular open-air taprooms anywhere in the region. You’ll hear how and why Bridge Brew Works has decided to stay primarily with its time-tested beer styles rather than being a more experimental brewery.

BBW brings together the strengths of three individuals with multiple talents. Nate, along with co-founder Ken Linch and brewer Adam Herrold (Nate’s brother) blend their abilities and talents to produce an excellent brewery operation.
