Fife Street announces new Putnam brewery

The owners of Charleston’s Fife Street Brewing announced that construction has begun on a new brewery project in Teays Valley, which is expected to open by October 15, 2026. With its 20-barrel brewhouse and 20 bbl and 40 bbl tanks, the new facility will be roughly three times the size of Fife Street’s existing Charleston brewery.

WV Beer Roads Podcast gets scoop on new brewery

West Virginia Beer Roads co-hosts Erin and Charles heard the announcement of the new brewery project during a West Virginia Beer Roads podcast recording session with Lisa and Derek Godwin yesterday. Check out the podcast to hear complete details of this exciting project, which will expand craft brewing to the densely populated suburban corridor between Charleston and Huntington.

The new Fife Street Brewing location is located at 3546 Teays Valley Road in the town of Hurricane, about 23 miles (30 minute drive) west of Charleston.

The Teays Valley brewery will focus on the production of Fife Street’s core brands: P-51 Porter, Charleston Beer, Charlie West Coast IPA, Summers Street Wheat, and Straight Kölsch Homie!. This will free up space at the downtown Charleston location allowing it begin producing lagers and more experimental, small-batch brews. Fife will also move their canning and distribution operation to the new facility.

Conner Tyree, Fife Street’s current assistant brewer, will move up to mange brewing at the new facility, while Head Brewer Gil Peterson will continue to be based in Charleston.

The greatly increased production capacity will allow Fife to expand its beer distribution footprint well beyond the current Charleston-Huntington focus. New distribution areas will likely include Beckley-Fayetteville, Lewisburg, Parkersburg, and Morgantown.

Staff hiring will begin in August with a job fair. Interested persons should contact john@fifestreetbrewing.com for more info.
