Elk City & Nano for fun this Friday
December 3, 2025
All Charleston streets lead to Elk City this Friday evening, Dec. 5, for fun and festivities. Family activities, including free hot cocoa and cookies—compliments of Dancing Dog ice cream shop—will be served and a Christmas Tree lighting will brighten up the area during the event, which kicks off at 6:00 P.M.
A visit from Santa Claus is also on the agenda.
The outdoor activities take place on the Elk City Green Space at 200 Washington St. West (across street from Dancing Dog). A number of Elk City businesses will be open that evening.
Beer & Bourbon for Adults
Along Washington Street, before and after the tree lighting, Charleston Nano Brewery and The Bullock Distillery will have plenty of adult beverages available at their respective locations. Since the Elk City District is also a PODA zone, you can take your Nano beer in a PODA cup out to the sidewalk and to the tree lighting green space if you’d like.

Nano does December right
Charleston Nano will tap a few kegs of special holiday themed beer, in addition to its regular brews.
At the top of the list is a new Russian Imperial Stout coming in at 15% ABV. Kenny Graley, Nano’s brewer, says he has enough of it to last a while. It has toasted marshmallow added and was rested in a Bullock Distillery Tanner’s Select barrel. Sounds like a tasty winter sipper.
“You’ll find smooth, rich flavors with a residual sweetness to hide the alcohol,” Kenny says of the RIS. “The barrel comes through with a hint of vanilla.”
In addition, Kenny will have a small cask of Bullock bourbon-barrel-aged Chocolate Cherry Stout. He’ll tap it Friday before the tree lighting so folks can take it out in the PODA. Kenny also encourages trying any of his beers for PODA.
“I’ll also have a Candy Cane Oatmeal Stout on tap at a lower, 4.5% ABV,” he says. “It’s an easy drinking beer with a hint of candy cane on the back end. Nice aroma of candy canes.”
Kenny also promises to put something in his small slushee machine just for fun. He says he may play around with putting the candy cane stout in it for a perfect icy holiday season kickoff.
