What you missed at Foam

On Saturday afternoon, the Foam at the Dome Festival poured lots of good West Virginia beer as well as beers from across the globe. Icy cold beer samples were just the thing to beat the scorching heat down by the river in Charleston, WV.

Beer Judging Results

WV Brewery Open 2025
Of course, you gotta have some beer judging at a festival to find out who has the most outstanding brews. Short Story Brewing of Rivesville, WV, took home First Place for their Elevated State Hazy IPA, which was loaded with a blend of Strata, Simcoe, and Citra hops. Second place at the fest went to High Ground Brewing of Terra Alta, WV. They won with a beautiful Cream Ale that sure hit the spot on a hot afternoon. As an interesting note, the All Pedal No Brakes Cream Ale was actually the first batch entirely brewed by High Ground’s new head brewer, Courtney Simpson.

The crew from Kanawha Valley Homebrew Club handled the judging, and not to be left out, Charleston’s own, Fife Street Brewing, scored a third place medal with their excellent 10.5% ABV, Barrel-aged Sternwheeler Imperial Stout.
