WV Bridge Day brewery events

Our two Fayette County craft brewers are cooking up some special beverages and events for this Saturday’s Bridge Day.

Two firsts at Bridge Brew Works

How about a Bridge Day Bloody Mary? For the first time ever, the guys at Bridge Brew will be serving up Bloodys under their new liquor permit. Starts at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday. Sure sounds good with a pale ale chaser.

Featured house-made brews will include favorites Mountain Mamma Pale Ale, New River IPA, and Long Point Lager. And there may also be a bit of their Oktoberfestbier left. In the non-alcohloic category, they’ll have their house-made root beer.

Another first for Saturday — the Bridge Brew Works taproom will include guest taps from other West Virginia brewers. Beers from Big Timber and High Ground will be there. For the cider lover, Hawk Knob Cider will be on tap too.

In the early evening hours (5-7 pm) they’ll hold a Fireside Tunes & Brews featuring Justin Shaw Steele.

The Cast Iron Smokers food truck will be on hand all weekend. They are doing an old-school pig roast and lots of other smoked noms to go along with their burgers, brats, wings, hand cut fries and other sides.

The Freefolk beer release and bash

Both of The Freefolk Brewery taproms, in Hico and Fayeteville, will be open Saturday and releasing the special Carolina Moon Spicy Blonde Ale (5.6% ABV). They say it’s got a malty sweet approach with a caring warm finish — just like their friends in Western NC. Proceeds from sale of the beer will benefit Hurricane Helene flood recovery efforts.

Fayetteville

Freefolk’s Fayetteville taproom will open Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 10:00 P.M. Live music will be provided by Evie Shaffer (2:00-5:00 pm) and Verdeant Band (7:30 – 9:30). All taps will be pouring, and the full food menu will be available.

Hico

Their Hico brewery taproom also opens at 12:00 Noon. You’ll find all your regular Freefolk favorite brews on draft. The kitchen will be open all day with Ample Pizza’s Wood-fired pizza and also The Bean Pot food truck.

Entertainment begins with musician Jay Milam, who will be playing from 1:00-3:00 P.M.

Kicking off at 3:00 PM in Hico is a special event: Mitch’s Bridge Dazed Bash ’24 ($5 cover charge). It’s an afternoon and evening of live music, community, and food to celebrate one of the most iconic bridges in the country and to raise funds for Hurricane Helene flood victims in Appalachia.

6:30-8:30 – Firefly Fusion with Dallas Craft
