The glow of Short Story Morgantown

Every beer (and picture) tells a story

In this photo essay about Short Story Brewing’s new Morgantown taproom, we get a feel for the total experience it offers. It’s not only a place to savor some tasty Short Story IPAs but a total experience for the mind and body.

Imagine a restful autumn afternoon on the riverbank. A cold beverage in front of you — a work of the brewer’s art — and further before you, scenes of Morgantown framed by arches of golden leaves. A warm breeze caresses as you bathe in the glow of the golden hour. Your cares melt into oblivion.

Maybe I’m dreaming, but I believe dreams come true on a visit to Short Story Morgantown, just about any fall afternoon. It’s a magic place.

Arriving at the taproom

You arrive at SSB-Morgantown (actually located in Westover just across the river from downtown Morgantown) and park in this spacious lot,

You enter SSB-Morgantown through this fairly non-descript door — actually, a magic portal that doesn’t really hint at the experience awaiting.

Once inside the main beer taproom, you are surrounded by glass walls and a deck overlooking the Monongahela River. The buildings of WVU are visible in the distance. Every seat offers a gorgeous view.

You’re always greeted by a friendly bartender or two.

The white lettering on the bar wall lists the 12 beers on draft.

Get a beer and take it outside. Enjoy the warm glow of autumn.

There is something so peaceful about this view.
I want more of it.

A second room with a different vibe

If a more traditional indoor experience is what you’re seeking, walk back to Short Story’s cocktail bar which is located just behind the front room. (Yes, you can still get your SSB beer there.)

Enjoy the wonderful art installations on the walls. Maybe grab a 4-pack to-go from the cooler.

If you’re there for a while, check out a table game.

Beers and Cocktails listed on the back bar.

Through this hall passes the featured hamburgers and other tasty fare, expertly prepared by SSB’s food partner, @burgerplacewv.

Now back outdoors

Head back to the riverbank for some sun (or shade) and fresh air.

This has to be one the the best places in the state to drink a local beer.

“Great job!” to the Short Story editorial team: Aaron, Mike, & Abby. You’ve set the bar high, and I love it.

To craft beer lovers everywhere: Check this place out. It’s tremendous. Solid beers, great views, nice interiors, burgers, good times.
