Cold beers for a cold month

Don’t let the cold weather keep you at home. Warm up at your local small brewery and try some new craft beers this winter.

Small breweries have been busy bringing out a wide variety of new brews. Here are some of the new, typically small-batch beauties released by popular West Virginia breweries this January. While some of these will hit distribution, they are now available at their home brewery’s taprooms. Check out Untappd.com for even more new beer options at your local breweries this winter.

High Ground Brewing

Another version of this popular series. Very juicy, with some lactose added for smoothness. 5% ABV.

The Peddler

Y’Alternative Hazy Black IPA
The brewery says Appalachians do it a little different, like this black hazy IPA. While deceivingly dark in color, this one drinks like the hazy IPAs you’ve grown to love. 6.8% ABV.

Bad Shepherd Beer Company

Poplar Brown Ale
A brown ale that includes honey malt in its grain bill, which along with the hops imparts a feeling of sweetness and lightly floral, honey-ish touch to the beer’s taste and aroma. It’s an easy drinker at 5.6% ABV.
