The Tap brings bold beer to the burbs
December 13, 2022
This St. Albans, West Virginia, establishment brings big craft beer flavors to its suburban location. Sitting about 14 miles west of downtown Charleston, The Tap’s success demonstrates the growing appreciation for craft beer across the region.
From its beginning in October, 2021, The Tap is led by three guys with connections to the St. Albans community. First knowing each other as friends, they decided to expand that relationship to become business partners. They had a hunch that folks in their part of the burbs were ripe for a local craft beer bar experience. They weren’t wrong. Now open seven days a week, The Tap is the hot ticket for craft beer, nicely prepared specialty food, and entertainment at their western Kanawha County setting.
Listen to the Podcast
West Virginia Beer Roads hosts Erin McCoy and Charles Bockway visited The Tap and talked with its owners to find out how they established their craft beer bar and to hear their experience working a beer bar in the burbs.
You will find The Tap in downtown Saint Albans at 75 Olde Main Plaza. Check their social media to learn the days for their events, including things like live music, themed parties, sports watching get-togethers, and more. In addition to craft beer, their full-service bar offers wine, ciders, seltzers, and liquor too.

December 26, 2022 at 10:06 amMy wife and I were visiting the Tap on the afternoon that Erin and Charles recorded their Podcast. We are both recently retired and discovering the craft beer rapid growth in West Virginia. We have visited several in state and out of state breweries and tap room over the past several years and the Tap in St Albans is really a hidden gem, a cool place to grab your favorite craft beer on Tap from around the state. Friendly atmosphere and great food, too. We felt very welcomed. We will be back soon and we live 30 miles away. Great Podcast. Much success to Tap family in 2023 and beyond. Dan and Jackie.
