The coolest ticket: WV Fall Beer Festivals

West Virginia is blessed with a fantastic fall season. The weather is great for getting outside. The forests shine with those lush autumn colors that are a feast for the eyes. And beer festivals shine with those wonderful malty Oktoberfest brews that that are a feast for the palate.
This year, the 187th official Oktoberfest celebration takes over Munich from September 17 to October 3. Other German cities hold similar festivals, often called Herbsfests, which celebrate the fall harvest season. The beer tent has always been a staple at these fests, and thankfully that practice is widely adopted by fall festivals in West Virginia and across America.
Fall beer festivals are the perfect place to sample and compare a big variety of craft beers from multiple breweries. Plus, festivals are just loads of fun as places to celebrate the season with your friends.

Happy Retreat Festival returns for 2022 with an expanded line up of beer and entertainment. ExpectWest Virginia brewers Abolitionist, Berkeley Springs, Greenbrier Valley, and Rippon to pour. Also 30+ more brews from regional/national craft brewers. Three live bands. Six food vendors. Ticket gets you a 6.5 oz. tasting glass and 8 tasting tickets. All proceeds from the event will go toward restoring/maintaining the historic Happy Retreat house and grounds to serve as a vibrant center of cultural life and community gatherings.

The Rollin’ Brews Beer Fest puts Harrison County on the beer festival map. Expect 10 beer tents, including West Virginia brewers and distributors. Will feature live music and lots of food vendors, all set against the beautiful backdrop of one of the best parks in North Central West Virginia. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Ticket sales limited to 500 attendees.

The City of Bluefield again presents its Oktoberfest In The Park. German foods, beer and bands will bring a festive atmosphere to what the city promises will be a laid-back-type of festival similar to the Bramwell Oktoberfest of old.
Because the festival is held on the Virginia side of Bluefield, the beer list will include a number of breweries not available in West Virginia. Admission gets you a cup and unlimited sampling.

This festival combines beer & wine with a sanctioned chili cookoff. Now in its second year, we expect the Chili’N on the Elk Beer & Wine Festival will build on its initial success. Will include local and regional crafters from throughout West Virginia — both WV beer and WV wine. Live music will be played along Main Street. All proceeds benefit the Elk River Trail Foundation and the beautification of the town of Clendenin.
