Foam returns to State Capitol location

This Saturday, get ready for a wave of foam to wash over the street in front of the State Capitol Building, as the Foam at the Dome craft beer festival returns for another round. After taking a COVID year off in 2020 and doing a pared-down festival on Washington Street in 2021, Foam will be back at its beautiful riverfront setting along Kanawha Boulevard.

It’s one of West Virginia’s premier craft beer events and tickets were still available as of this article’s post time. If you’re in the Charleston region, you’ll want to check this one out. Organizers expect upwards of 2,500 attendees spread out along the spacious boulevard and riverbank. Beer tents will line the 1900 block in front of the Capitol Building from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

“The most important thing is that we’re actually back,” says festival coordinator Adam Stollings of Charleston Main Streets. “We have several breweries, independent and regional, making their first appearances at Foam at the Dome. Big Draft Brewing (White Sulphur Springs) and Abolitionist Ale Works (Charles Town) will be there for the first time, and Fife Street Brewing (Charleston) and 50 West Brewing (Cincinnati) will be having their official launches at the event.”

At last count, 17 West Virginia breweries and two WV cideries will be pouring along with numerous out-of-state craft beers and ciders provided by local beer distributors. In total, organizers expect over 200 different beers and ciders to be available.

Live entertainment will be provided by DJEJ, Heavy Hitters, and Matt Mullins and the Bringdowns, all taking place from the City National Bank Stage. A variety of food vendors and merchandise tents round out the fest’s offerings.

Organizers say 100% of your ticket purchase goes directly toward the urban development programs of Charleston Main Streets. Since 2016, Charleston Mains Streets reports that Foam at the Dome has raised over $154,000 for East End and West Side revitalization.
