First Huntington Mall beer festival set

Huntington Mall has scheduled its first-ever indoor beer and wine festival for Saturday, October 23. HD Media and the Huntington Mall are joining forces to promote Corks and Kegs 2021, a four-hour beer and wine tasting event.

Event organizers say Corks and Kegs will feature beer & wine tasting and local food vendors, as well as live entertainment from Adam Parker & the Bourbon Cowboys, Carter Miller, and Essie Riddle. Assuming the COVID 19 situation cooperates, this looks like an attractive event.

Tickets are now on sale. A $40 General Admission ticket gets you a 4-oz. tasting glass and access to beer and wine tastings. A $60 VIP ticket includes free food along with the tasting glass and beer and wine sampling.

While final details are still to be worked out, we would expect several direct-distributing local WV breweries to bring their beer. Beer distributors are also expected to participate and bring other WV and regional brews. For example we hear Capitol Beverage will bring beer from Parkersburg Brewing and Sweetwater Brewing, and likely others. Expect Atomic Distributing to have beers from Greenbrier Valley Brewing and more. And our guess is that Spriggs Distributing will bring beer from Big Timber Brewing and others. The participating brewery line-up should be expected from festival organizers later.

Event organizers say a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Facing Hunger Food Bank, which serves an area including: Cabell, Boone, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mason, Mingo, Putnam, Wayne, and Wyoming counties in West Virginia. Boyd, Greenup, Lawrence, and Martin counties in Kentucky and Lawrence County, Ohio. Event sponsors include Advantage Toyota, Classic Jewelry and Loan, and NGE Consulting.

Huntington Mall is located in Barboursville, WV just off I-64, Exit 20. The festival will begin at 4:00 PM and end at 8:00. Nearby lodging includes a Delta Hotel, Hampton Inn, and Comfort Inn.
