Abolitionist does WV Beer Week

Abolitionist Ale Works released the full schedule of events for its WV Beer Week, and it’s a doozie. No brewery celebrates the week harder than Abolitionist.

The celebration kicks off on Saturday, June 15, with a party at Abolitionist Ale Works. The City of Charles Town will be holding its annual West Virginia Fest from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Abolitionist Ale Works will have a beer garden locatved directly in front of the brewery with great site lines to the live music.

After the festival ends, Abolitionist will hold an afterparty on its patio with free live music from The Crush Funk Brass Band and The Dirty Grass Players!

In addition, Abolitionist Ale Works will be selling its first ever canned beer called Antietam Kriek, which was brewed in collaboration with Antietam Brewing Co. of Hagerstown, Maryland. The beer is a limited-batch cherry sour ale available exclusively in WV at Abolitionist Ale Works in Charles Town.

On Sunday, June 16, the brewery will hold a special Paint Nite event at 2PM at which you can purchase tickets to paint alongside an instructor and your friends. Tickets are available at yaymaker.com by searching for Abolitionist Ale Works.

On Tuesday, June 18, Abolitionist will hold an outdoor open mic from 6:30-9:30PM. On Wednesday, June 19, they will host a stand-up comedy fundraiser to raise money towards the medical bills of local comedy legend Mike Diesel. The show will be headlined by Mike Diesel and also feature Andy Kline, Michael Aronin, and Jonathan Fields. Seating for the show starts at 7:00 PM and showtime is 8:00 PM, tickets for this event are $10 and are available at abolitionistaleworks.com.

On the last day of WV Craft Beer Week, Saturday, June 22, Abolitionist Ale Works will have live music all day on its patio, headlined by New Orleans blues guitar legend Billy Thompson. as well as The Brahman Noodles and a secret musical guest. They will continue to tap new beers throughout Saturday including at a special outside bar with exclusive limited batch strong beers.

At noon on Friday, June 21, Abolitionist will kick off its 2nd birthday celebration with 18 new small-batch beers. At 8:00 PM the brewpub will be filled with live music from FolkenPhunk Trio. The anniversary beers will feature lots of barrel aged beers, sour ales, wild ales and strong ales. In addition, there will be a limited bottle release of West Funkin Virginia, which is a barrel aged dry hopped sour.
