Pipestem Spa adds summer beer, wine, and bourbon events

Coming off their uber-successful Oktoberfest celebration last year, which featured West Virginia breweries, the Pipestem Spa, Event Center & Mountain Chalets in Pipestem, WV,  has moved strongly into the craft beer arena to help promote all their festivals and music events. Using the popularity of craft beer to build business at your southern West Virginia event center is what BrilliantStream calls smart business.

This summer will see three big festival events, each with a potent dose of craft beer. Pipestem proprietors Anna and Anthony Ferraraccio are counting on craft beer to help attract the crowds.

Metal in the Mountains
June 3, 2017
This heavy metal music and tattoo festival features 12 bands, with the headliner being an AC-DC tribute band. Lots of craft beer, all sorts of vendors with heavy metal t-shirts, body piercing, and tattoos. A contest that day will select Miss Metal. Tickets on sale now. General Admission-$20, VIP-$75

Red, White & Brew
June 14, 2017
In their third year doing this festival, they will feature WV craft beer and wine sampling in a casual atmosphere.  Local bands & food trucks,  A laid back celebration of American summer. Hours 5-9 PM. Tickets $45 in advance; $55 at the door. On sale soon.

Beer, Bacon & Bourbon
August 26, 2017
Bourbon-barrel-aged beers and bacon flavored beers along with a variety of standard craft brews. Bourbons in the bar (and possibly outside if ABCA permission can be obtained). Bacon and bourbon themed foods. Includes a Guns & Roses tribute band and a Miss Bourbon beauty pageant, the winner of which will be eligible to compete in the Miss West Virginia USA pageant. Tickets go on sale later.

Moving drinkers from Bud Light to craft beer

Even though proprietor Anna Ferraraccio admits that Bud Light is still the event center’s biggest seller, she is trying her best to shift the business toward craft and West Virginia breweries. She is a firm believer that you can sell a lot of craft beer in rural southern west Virginia.

Anna is a big fan of her local brewery, Sophisticated Hound Brewing Co. of Princeton. She keeps two of its beers on tap in the bar (usually Racer 8 Stout and 1863 Pale Ale). In addition, you’ll normally find some Greenbrier Valley Brewing selections and maybe a few other WV brews.

Last year’s Oktoberfest Pipestem attracted 1,800 people and served West Virgina beer all day long, until 11 o’clock at night. This year the festival will expand to two days, and will host up to 2,000 people per day. The Ferraraccios will again import a great selection of authentic Oktoberfest food items from Germany and feature craft beer from West Virginia breweries. Festival dates are October 6 and 7, 2017.
