WV Craft Brewers Guild seeks Executive Director

The West Virginia Craft Brewers Guild has posted a job description for its executive director search. The guild hopes to complete a contract for the position at its November meeting.
Since its founding several years ago, the guild has been operating without any staff. Members now want to increase guild activity and believe contracting for an executive director will help them better meet their goals. West Virginia has 17 licensed breweries with several more in the late planning stages.

What the West Virginia Craft Brewers Guild is looking for in an Executive Director:
- This is a new position, so the Executive Director should be highly motivated, self-starter, and able to weigh their decisions considering the needs of all the guild’s members.
- Communication and execution is key, he or she must reach out to the members and understand their needs and positions.
- Unify the industry. Recruit new members and show potential members the benefits of the Guild.
- Organize and set up Quarterly Board meetings, and follow through with the board’s direction.
- Communicate with and educate government officials and industry executives to promote a better business climate for craft brewers in West Virginia.
- Promote West Virginia beer.
- Travel throughout the State to meet with the members, stakeholders, and policy makers.
- Utilization of own equipment to build documents, spreadsheets, etc. to communicate the guilds needs.
- Compensation will be commission-based, with 100% of Guild dues going to the Executive Director’s compensation in the first year.
