Sad day could be opportunity

We’re sad to hear that a long-time West Virginia craft brewer has decided to call it quits. Berkeley Springs Brewing Company announced that all its assets are up for sale.

“We have made the difficult decision to liquidate,” BSBC’s Denise Wagenbrenner told us.

While it’s surely a sad day, in one respect, it could be an opportunity for the birth of a new brewery business. Entrepreneurs take note.

The Wagenbrenners are selling as turn-key business opportunities both their main brewery and restaurant at Coolfont (Bath Water Brewpub) and their CRUST Pizza Bistro (restaurant & taproom) in downtown Berkeley Springs. Additionally, they have quite a bit of equipment for sale that was previously targeted for a planned brewery expansion.

“We have listings on Probrewer for the 7 bbl and 16T chiller we purchased for expansion,” Denise says. “I can supply details for what we have with the 3 bbl system [at the Bath Water Brewpub].”
