Jackie O’s Brewing holds 9th anniversary event

A couple hundred beer fans wait patiently in line in a chilly rain for a chance to purchase unique and rare Jackie O’s barrel-aged beers. You had to pick up a number Friday evening to secure your place in line for the Saturday morning bottle sale.

Five Jackie O’s barrel-aged specialties in 22 oz. bottles went on sale Saturday, December 6, and quickly sold out. And around these parts, it’s a big deal. The limit for each this year was one bottle. A couple of years ago you could easily expect to get two or three of each. Jackie O’s is getting very popular. A new wrinkle has entered the Appalachian regional craft beer landscape that could boost a small local brewery to the next level. It could also be a model for further growth of a major U.S craft brewer.

This week, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Inc. (AMB) of Boone, NC, and the Oregon-based Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) announced their intent to explore potential opportunities to drive business growth and shareholder value through sharing resources in key strategic areas including, but not limited to, brewing, purchasing, distribution, and sales. Swover Creek Farm Brewery opens Nov. 26

Swover_Creek_Farm_brewery_logoSwover Creek Farms officially opens its new farm brewery this Wednesday (Nov. 26) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The farm is located about six miles west of Edinburg, Virginia in rural Shenandoah County.

On tap will be a Blueberry Wheat and a Dark Cascadian Ale. The Blueberry Wheat features blueberries raised on the farm.

Farm owner Dave St. Clair, who also handles the brewing duties, says they are only able to open with two beers; however, he has more brews in their final conditioning stages, including a Black IPA, that will be available real soon.
